Much of the web browser on Ubuntu, works as it does on a MSDOS. On, Ubuntu 12.04 you can change the sleep mode time up to 1 or 2 hours instead of 5 minutes.
Ubuntu 12.04 might be more compatible with computers that were originally running Windows XP, and Ubuntu 14.04 might be more compatible with computer that were originally running Windows 7 on them; maybe because of type of video drivers were used when they were built.
Most of the Ubuntu 12.04 is similar to Ubuntu 14.04; but Ubuntu 14.04 has many newer applications softwarare installed. Ubuntu 14.04 wouldn't install on my computer because it might not have had a compatible video driver fot it, but 12.04 did; so, if I want it to work with this desktop I might have to get a newer video card, and upgrade it. For now I might keep using Ubuntu 12.04, because it is running very good.
